Warts (Verrucae Pedis)
Warts are viral infections that commonly occur on our feet. They can present at any age but are most commonly seen in children. Some warts may resolve on their own without treatment whilst others can increase in size, multiply and become painful. At Comfort Steps Podiatry we offer a number of treatment options that we can discuss with you in clinic, however our latest and newest treatment on offer is Swift. Swift is a microwave technology which is highly effective at resolving warts.

Swift Wart Therapy
Swift is a medical microwave technology which is highly effective in treating warts. It uses microwave (non-ionizing radiation) to raise the temperate of the wart to 42-45 degrees. This results in something called “heat shock” within the skin cells, which helps your immune system to recognise the wart virus and initiate a response to destroy it.

Nail Surgery
Our Podiatrists are able to perform surgical nail removal of ingrown toenails when conservative nail treatments are unsuccessful. Nail surgery involves the administration of local anaesthesia to remove and cauterize the offending nail edge or nail plate.

Orthotic Therapy
A foot orthotic (or pair of orthoses) are devices used within your shoes to provide support, stability and offload areas when you are on your feet. They are designed to change the way we walk and move by correcting troublesome foot and lower limb positions. Depending on your individual condition, Comfort Steps Podiatry can provide traditional plaster casting techniques or use the latest 3D scanning technology to create the right orthoses for you. Various materials and manufacturing processes are available including 3D printed orthoses. We also stock a range of prefabricated orthoses which we can adapt and modify to best suit your individual foot needs.

Dry Needling
Dry needling is a therapy used to release myofascial trigger points via the use of fine acupuncture needles. However, this is not acupuncture. The therapy aims to relieve tension in overused or overloaded muscles to improve overall muscle and tissue function. Podiatrists at Comfort Steps Podiatry can use dry needling as part of a treatment plan in managing any foot or leg pathologies.

Injury Management & Rehabilitation
Our podiatrists will work with you in providing appropriate care and treatment pathways in any sporting injury, post-surgical rehabilitation or medical complication to improve your overall health and well being. We aim to assist you in restoring your function to your achievable and attainable goals.

Biomechanical Assessment
At Comfort Steps Podiatry we provide static and dynamic evaluations of your posture and function. Our podiatrists can perform this through various clinical assessment tools, observation and quantifiable clinical measures. Such evaluations may include gait assessments and muscle testing.

Mobilisation
Foot mobilisation is a hands on skill used to assist with improving foot function and relieving foot or leg pain. The aim of this therapy is to improve the mobility and alignment of the joints, allowing soft tissues to work more efficiently in their most optimal position. This can assist with pain reduction for some and allow for better movement patterns. This therapy can be used as part of a treatment plan in any foot or leg pathology.

ESWT – Extracorpeal Shockwave Therapy
Extracorpeal Shockwave Therapy is a treatment tool used to treat acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain. It is a non-surgical treatment that assists with speeding up injury recovery time and reducing pain. It is a useful tool in rehabilitation. Shockwave Therapy works via the production of an acoustic wave which is spread through the device handpiece into the body. The body then responds with increased metabolic activity to promote the breakdown of scar tissue/calcification and enhance the healing processes of bones, tendons and other soft tissues. Shockwave can be used in conditions such as Achilles Tendionpathy, Plantar Fasciosis and Osgood Schlatters.

K-Laser Therapy
K-Laser is a class IV laser that delivers red near-infrared wavelengths of laser light in order to induce therapeutic effects. It can aid with increasing circulation, decreasing inflammation, reducing pain and enhancing tissue healing. It can enhance tissue repair by bio-stimulation and accelerate natural healing of the body by reducing inflammation and pain.

Dermoscopy
Dermoscopy is a technique our podiatrists have completed training in which uses a device called a dermatoscope. It is a technique that allows closer visual inspection of the skin and nails. It can be used to gather additional information about skin lesions or nails to assist decision making as to if a lesion is to be monitored or needing to be referred to a doctor/skin specialist.
